国外物理渲染器阿诺德(SolidAngle Arnold)被AutoDesk公司收购!

[菜鸟C4D4月19日讯]国外著名物理渲染器阿诺德官方发布消息称,SolidAngle已被全球最大的二维、三维设计和工程软件公司欧特克Autodesk收购。Autodesk旗下有很多大家在耳熟能详的软件,如3ds max、cad、maya等。Autodesk虽在2D和3D界独霸天下,但旗下一直没有响当当的渲染器,一直以来max和maya都是与chaosgroup和asgvis公司出品的vray渲染器合作。Autodesk收购Arnold,可谓是如虎添翼,另外,关于Autodesk官方也对这次并购很兴奋,并宣告Arnold将继续支持Houdini, Katana,sfotimage以及Cinema 4D等。俗话讲,背靠大树好乘凉,阿诺德(Arnold)未来靠着autodesk这颗大树一定会在CG行业大放光彩。
说到SolidAngle也是渲染器中的一把利剑,SolidAngle公司的阿诺德Arnold渲染器是一款高级的、跨平台的渲染 API。与传统用于 CG 动画的 scanline(扫描线)渲染器(Renderman)不同,Arnold 是照片真实、基于物理的光线追踪渲染器,是基于物理算法的电影级别渲染引擎,目前由Solid Angle SL 开发。正在被越来越多的好莱坞电影公司以及工作室作为首席渲染器使用。SolidAngle之前也一直为众多CG软件开发插件,有Maya, Softimage, Houdini和Katana,还有去年冬季才放出C4D版的插件,不曾想,没过多久竟然被autodesk看上了,熟悉传媒娱乐行业的朋友一定对Solid Angle公司和他的渲染器 Arnold 不陌生。Arnold是一款基于 Monte Carlo Ray tracing 的渲染器,很多好莱坞大厂和一些工作室都在使用。尤其是Sony Pictures Imageworks 基本上全线采用Arnold渲染。Arnold也帮助创造了很多优秀的影片,比如2006年获得奥斯卡提名的Monster House(怪兽屋), 还有诸如Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs(美食从天而降),Alice in Wonderland(爱丽丝梦游仙境),Pacific Rim(环太平洋), Gravity(地心引力)等等佳作。
autodesk公司的max和maya一直以来占据CG业的半壁江山,随着c4d不断的发展,不断吞噬着autodesk的市场占有率,Autodesk可能发现了自己在渲染器上面的短板,因为C4D自从发布以来就在软件中集成了号称渲染最快的渲染器,C4D渲染引擎效果好速度快。C4D拥有世界闻名的的快速渲染引擎AdvanceRender(高级渲染器),这个引擎具备强大的渲染能力而又具有多样性,包括许多重要的功能,如全局照明、焦散、光能传递、HDRI、3S等等。在对硬件的需求上,它比其它的三维软件要求要低,但是却能取得更好的渲染效果.因此,即使很多用惯了其它3D软件的人,也愿意在Cinema 4D的高速引擎中渲染。 Cinema 4D内置基于Ray-Trace(光影追踪)的AdvanceRender(高级渲染器),其Scanline(扫描线)渲染方式至今仍然是世界上速度最快、真实感最强、操作最简单的非GI(非全局照明)渲染解决方案。而且C4D与一直在于其它渲染器有合作,像vray和Arnold以及Octane、team等都有开发C4D的插件。Autodesk虽然也有众多渲染器为之开发插件,但自己没有渲染器,江山必定不稳,为此可见Autodesk要誓与maxon cinema 4d干到底了。现在,随着Arnold加入Autodesk大家庭, Autodesk在渲染方面的短板将得以补充。

Big news today! We are proud and excited to let you know that our team at Solid Angle has made a move that expands in a big way our capacity to keep pushing rendering forward. We’ve joined Autodesk! We are now part of the passionate Media & Entertainment team that includes Maya, Shotgun and RV, working to help artists create beautiful animation and VFX faster and easier across platforms and pipelines.

First, what you love about Arnold isn’t going to change. The Solid Angle team is still leading and driving Arnold’s technology direction, development and support. We have not handed Arnold over – we have joined Autodesk to keep moving it forward at the speed you know and expect, working closely with you as always. We are still here to help you with licensing, sales and support.
Second, development of Arnold plug-ins for Katana, Cinema4D, Houdini and Softimage – and other software will absolutely continue. Openness is everyone’s goal.
